CERAMICS
Each prototype starts its journey in our Soho studio, where Jonathan and his team design and hand-sculpt the original model in clay. Due to its handmade nature, there will be slight variations and imperfections. We think that adds to the allure.
DINNER AND SERVEWARE
- Rinse immediately after use to prevent scratches and staining.
- From our Vice Canisters to our sculptural mugs and tea sets to our special occasion dinnerware, our ceramic pieces are dishwasher safe. Items with metallic accents are dishwasher safe for up to 500 washes. However, hand washing will extend the life of your plates.
- To prolong the life of your pieces, use protective cloth or cushion when storing or stacking.
- Do not use metallic-accented pieces in the microwave.
POTTERY
- For unglazed, porcelain pottery: Spot clean with soap and water, or make a paste with baking soda for a deep clean. Only use a soft, non-abrasive cloth, as sponges may leach into the ceramic surface. Minor wear can be cleaned with a Magic Eraser. Pieces are also dishwasher safe.
- For items with a clear, colored, or metallic glaze: dust with a soft, dry cloth and hand wash or spot clean only. Use mild detergents with water to clean.
NON-CERAMIC TABLETOP AND SERVEWARE
- Our Pop Glasses are dishwasher safe.
- For items with a clear, colored, or metallic glaze: dust with a soft, dry cloth and hand wash or spot clean only. Use mild detergents with water to clean.
- Pieces with metallic accents, such as our Newport or Malachite Glassware should only be hand-washed.
- See below for care for marble, stone, and brass serve ware.
BRASS (CAST/BLACKENED)
Each prototype starts its journey in our Soho studio, where Jonathan and his team design and hand-sculpt the original model in clay before crafting from solid brass or cast-brass. Due to its handmade nature, there will be slight variations and imperfections—we think that adds to the allure.
DECORATIVE OBJETS
- Over time the polished brass will develop a rich natural patina.
- If desired, use a microfiber cloth to buff out fingerprints.
- If you have no patience for patina, use a brass polish. Do not use brass polishes on blackened bronze pieces as it will damage the finish.
FOOD-SAFE PIECES
- Avoid contact with acidic foods.
- Rinse or wash immediately after use.
- Hand wash only with mild soap. Do not use brass polish, abrasive cleaners, or scouring pads. To avoid spots, dry immediately with a soft cloth.
- Do not use in the microwave.
- To prolong the life of your pieces, use a protective cloth or padding when storing or stacking.
FURNITURE
For items that required initial assembly, we recommend retightening bolts every three months to ensure stability.
STONE AND MARBLE
Our marble is sealed, but stone is a naturally porous material. Wipe spills immediately.
- Hand wash only with mild soap. To avoid spots, dry immediately with a soft cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- For serveware: Rinse immediately after use and do not allow liquids to sit on the surface. Do not use in the microwave and avoid contact with acidic foods. To prolong the life of your pieces, use a protective cloth or padding when storing or stacking.
VELLUM
Vellum or lacquered goatskin is a natural parchment, and contains variations in pattern, color, and texture. The uniquely mottled texture is by design.
- Wipe spills immediately. Do not allow water to collect on the surface.
- Avoid contact with hot items.
- Clean using a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
WOOD AND WOOD FINISHES
- Wipe spills immediately. Do not allow water to collect on the surface.
- Avoid contact with hot items.
- Clean using a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
- Wood is a natural material and responds to changes in temperature and humidity. Extreme fluctuations can cause wood furniture to crack and lacquer and finishes to lift.
- Our doors hinges may loosen or become misaligned in transport or over time. If your doors feel loose, tighten bolts or adjust hinges with a Phillips head screwdriver.
GLASS
- Wipe spills immediately. Do not allow water to collect on the surface.
- Clean using a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
- For tougher-to-remove stains and fingerprints, use a glass cleaner with a soft cloth.
LACQUER
- Wipe spills immediately. Do not allow water to collect on the surface.
- Avoid contact with hot items.
- Clean using a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
- Never use cleaner with alcohol or solvents as they may damage the surface and finish. If your finish shows signs of significant wear, consult with a professional.
- If scratches on the lacquer surface develop, Novus Cleaners may be used to repair. We recommend Novus Level 1 or 2 for buffing out light scratches.
- Wood is a natural material and responds to changes in temperature and humidity. Extreme fluctuations can cause wood furniture to crack and lacquer and finishes to lift.
LEATHER
- Leather is a hide and naturally porous. Exposure to moisture can cause it to warp and stretch. Wipe spills immediately.
- Maintain leather by keeping away from direct sunlight and fluctuations in temperature.
- We recommend professional cleaning. If product is showing signs of significant wear, consult with a professional.
ACRYLIC
Acrylic is a clear durable acrylic material, which can develop scratches over time.

- Avoid contact with hot items.
- Wipe spills immediately. Do not allow water to collect on the surface.
- Clean using a soft, dry microfiber cloth in straight strokes.
- Clean using a soft, dry microfiber cloth in straight strokes.
- Do not use household window cleansers on acrylic. If you need deep cleaning, use warm (hot water can cause clouding), soapy water and a soft, lint-free cloth. If scratches develop, Novus cleaners may be used to repair. Novus Level 1 is for cleansing, 2 for polishing light scratches, and 3 for more significant wear.
METALS
- Whether antiqued brass or polished nickel, our metal is finished with a clear lacquer topcoat to ensure its longevity and slow the natural patina process. Over time, a patina will still develop. Excessive exposure to moisture may hasten its appearance.
- Avoid contact with hot items.
- Wipe spills immediately. To clean, wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
- Never use cleaner with alcohol or solvents on metals as they may damage the surface and finish. If your metal shows signs of significant wear, consult with a professional.
RUGS
Make your floors as fabulous as you are. From hand-knotted to flat woven, each rug uses couture techniques and our signature graphic patterns. For all our rugs, we recommend using a rug pad and rotating occasionally to distribute wear.
FLATWEAVE
- Vacuum regularly.
- Our hard-working Peruvian Flat Weave rugs can withstand a lot, but treat stains quickly. Remove spills immediately by blotting as much liquid as possible with a white cloth or paper towel.
- Spot clean with a mild detergent or carpet cleaner, first testing a small portion of the rug. Do not use bleach-based products.
HAND-KNOTTED
- We do not recommend use in high-traffic areas or wet areas.
- Use rug protectors under heavy furniture.
- Vacuum regularly to minimize shedding. Shading will occur as the pile shifts and tracking will occur from foot steps.
- For best results, vacuum in the direction of the pile to avoid pushing dirt back into carpet fibers.
- If loose threads occur, do not pull. Clip them with scissors to remove.
- Keep away from excessive moisture. For indoor use only.
- Remove spills immediately. Blot with a clean, undyed cloth by pressing firmly to absorb as much as possible. Do not scrub as it could warp the pile.
- For hard-to-remove stains we recommend professional cleaning. Harsh chemicals may damage or fade rugs.
ABACA/NATURAL
- Vacuum regularly, ideally with a brushless attachment.
- Avoid direct and continuous exposure to sunlight. We recommend turning your rug occasionally to maintain even color variations.
- If loose threads occur, do not pull. Clip them with scissors to remove.
- Remove spills immediately. Blot with a clean, undyed cloth by pressing firmly to absorb as much as possible. Do not saturate your carpet. An untreated liquid spill will cause dirt particles within the rug to rise to the surface, and may cause a dark stain.
- For hard-to-remove stains we recommend professional cleaning.
- Due to the absorbent nature of Abaca fibers, this rug will shrink and expand with changes in humidity.
STIVVORIGINALS.COM - S R
- We recommend protectors under furniture to prevent indentations and wear. Periodically vacuum unexposed areas to prevent damage.
- Vacuum regularly in in both directions of the traffic pattern to prevent matting. Use caution with your vacuum’s settings as long piles could tangle in your vacuum’s motor.
- Consult an expert if your rug becomes stained or damaged.
- Treat stains quickly. Blot up as much liquid as possible with a white cloth or paper towel. Scrubbing can create matting or fuzzing. Contact a professional immediately.
- Spot clean on a daily or weekly basis. We recommend a regular cleaning every one or two years.
- If loose threads occur, do not pull. Clip them with scissors to remove.
